I like chocolate. But I don’t live in Melbourne. While my hometown does have one or two dedicated chocolate stores, I’ve already tasted their delectable delights and I’m just not interested.
I’d just finished a uni seminar (in bed, watching on my phone with a notepad resting next to my pillow) when the idea struck me: I can catch a train to Melbourne. I have the coin to do that right now.
I should go to Melbourne on a chocolate tour.
I got up, banged on my brother’s door to inform him he had ten minutes to decide whether he wanted to come. I got dressed. We got into my car, hopped on a train, and off we went to Melbourne.
Typically fearful of spontenaity, my drive to tour Melbourne’s many chocolate stops was surprising, to say the least. The itinerary was six stores long:
- Haighes Chocolate
- Ganache Chocolate
- Koko Black
- The Chocolate Box
- KitKat Chocolatory
- Lindt Chocolate Shop
What followed was approximately four hours of trying to decide what chocolate we wanted/could afford from these chocolatories, genuine fish-out-of-water feelings, and a quill on a pedastal.
Stay tuned. 😉
