Seven Seas sails away with second Air Guitar World Championship win

Air Guitar 2014 World Champion Nanami “Seven Seas” Nagura has returned to the competition leaderboard for the second time after claiming the stage as her own in the 23rd annual Air Guitar World Championships.

Her round one performance stole audience attention with a unique Cinderella introduction before slashing her way out of her tatty get-up and into an electric performance unworthy of the small stage upon which she stood.

But for round two, her return to a classic air guitar performance was exhilarating, captivating the crowd with some excellent flexible playing, complete with utilisation of fantastic hair. A well-timed rainfall only added to fantastic showmanship. Nagura successfully stunned judges into a near-perfect score, with a maximum 6.0 scores from all (save one) judges.

It also marks the second time returning champion Matt “Airistotle” Burns has gone up against Seven Seas and just missed the mark. Champion for two years running, eccentric and energetic Burns just couldn’t break into perfect 6.0s, and took home a fourth silver placement—the second one earned in competition with Nagura.

This championship also brought humorous Canadian Air Guitar champion Dana ”Dana-Saurus Rex” Schiemann who utilised an extensive music roster of Green Day, Fall Out Boy to her advantage, coupling the tunes to a humorous college speech skit. A well-timed somersault and opportunity to promote the Pro-Choice movement had Schiemann leaving the stage with a well-earned third place.
